Fall Sailing Saturdays

The final Monday night sailing is this coming Monday, August 29th. The following week is Labor Day, and the weekend after that is the PYC Whitecap regatta (for Lightning’s).

A number of us sail into late fall (roughly Thanksgiving). If people are interested we could sail on Saturdays? Nothing at all formal, just enough organization that if people are interested we can agree on a time.

Current thoughts are 11 am Saturdays for those who are interested.

If anyone is thinking about it, I’m planning on sailing tonight, getting to PYC about 4:30.

August 8

Not much wind tonight, but there’s good wind predicted for tomorrow, if we can avoid the rain. I’m planning to go tomorrow.

August 9th:

Monday Night Racing

This occurs, as you might guess, on Monday nights, beginning the week after Memorial Day and ending the week before Labor Day. However, we may start earlier this year, since most of our racers have wet/dry suits anyway. (By mid-April, a number of our guys have already been out.)

People arrive around 6pm, with races starting as soon as we get on the water. We try to have a few races per evening, so feel free to straggle in. We run races until a little before sunset.

What boats can race?

Pretty much anything smaller than a Lighting. Generally we have Lasers, Sunfish and windsurfers.

Is it highly competitive?

No! We're just out to have fun, and this is a great place to work on skills.

Over the past couple of years it has not been a large group, so we want as many people racing as possible. So this year, we'll be using Rabbit Starts, and some neat bouys that Scott Fohey found that can be transported via sailboat and even windsurfer. On most evenings we will not even be taking out the Whaler. (However, if you're comfortable driving the whaler, and would like to come watch, please do so!)
